National Gamete Donation Trust is looking for trustees and volunteers

The National Gamete Donation Trust (NGDT) has provided independent advice on egg, sperm and embryo donation since 1998. This work is now unfunded, so they face the prospect of closure by April 2019*.

They believe there is still a need for unbiased information on donation that is independent of clinics. Rather than close, they want to see if it's possible to re-form as a colunteer-run charity, using their website and social media to promote the need for donation and provide high quality advice for donors.

To make this happen, they need people who share their passion about the importance of donation to colunteer as trustees or in other roles. Ideally, they are looking for people with personal experience of the regulated fertility sector in the UK - donors, donor-recipients and professionals - who have the time, knowledge and commitment to make this succeed. They also need to find a new chair of the charity to bring it all together.

They don't have role descriptions at this stage. They are more interested in finding out who you are and what you think you can contribute. If you would like to discuss this further, please contact the current chair, Charles Lister, at charles.lister@ngdt.co.uk by no later than 31st July 2018.

*NGDT currently runs the Donor Conceived Register (DCR) on behalf of the HFEA. The HFEA is consulting on a new future for the Register, so their plans assume that the DCR will have transferred to a new provider by April 2019.
