New NICE Guidelines for IVF

NICE has updated its guidelines on fertility. In the previous 2004 fertility guideline, NICE said that IVF treatment should not be recommended for women older than 39. Under the updated recommendations, NICE says that under certain criteria, women aged between 40 and 42 years should be offered one full cycle of IVF. The definition of a full cycle of IVF has been updated to prevent any ambiguity in interpretation or variation in treatment.  For more information and details see the nhs news site http://www.nhs.uk/news/2013/February/Pages/New-NICE-guidelines-for-NHS-fertility-treatment.aspx and Infertility Network UK’s (IN UK) site http://www.infertilitynetworkuk.com/news/23/New%20NICE%20Guideline%20Published%20Today
