DC Network Lawyer Supporters

The law ought to be simple and straightforward for donor conception families, but it isn’t always. For this reason, if you are planning to conceive as a solo mum, thinking about conceiving with the help of a friend outside the clinic system or at an overseas clinic, you might need legal advice. If you already have children but your relationship is breaking down, advice from a sympathetic and knowledgeable practitioner will be important. If you are a solo mum, you should think about making a will to ensure that your wishes are carried out should anything happen to you. Anyone contemplating surrogacy will certainly need a lawyer because a court order is necessary to confer legal parenthood.

There are many lawyers in this area, but the ones below have signed up to our Lawyer Supporter programme, listed alphabetically. We make no particular recommendation about them other than to tell you they are long-term supporters of DC Network and recognise both the importance of the work they do and also the value of our Network in providing help and information to donor conception families.

If you are a specialist lawyer operating in this area and would like more information about the scheme click here or do please get in touch on 020 7278 2608 or

Three things to think about when deciding which lawyer is right for you:

  1. Does the practitioner work exclusively in the area of donor and surrogacy law? It may be that the lawyer is a general family lawyer with some specialist knowledge of this area and that might be work well for you, but do be aware that more complex cases usually require a specialist
  2. How established is the practitioner in this field? The firm’s website will give you a good indication of their track-record
  3. Are the firm local to you? Do they need to be? Sometimes, just one face to face meeting will be needed, but there are some circumstances where many meetings might be needed, especially as your children grow and circumstances evolve. It may not be practicable to travel long-distances.

If you’re a specialist lawyer in the field of donor conception use this link to find out more information about our Lawyer Supporter Scheme. Or you can email us on or give us a call on 020 7278 2608.
